Pinkel Gets Involved...and the Rest is History

Well, we alluded to it last week and it could not have come more true. Gary Pinkel just could not contain himself any longer – he had to get involved. And needless to say, Methzou hasn’t looked worse all year.

Defensively, they were just fine. At this point, OU has 35 (not sure if they’ll get any more), but I’m not sure what they could have done differently. Other than being completely non-existent in goal-line situations, they did everything they could against a more physical OU offense.

Offensively was a different story. And it again comes down to how they handled things in the red zone. They pretty much shot themselves in the dick any time they got there. But the one play that truly defines how badly they Pinkeled away their chances tonight was the QB “draw” from a half yard out. From the moment Booger lined up in the shotgun, I knew they were fucked. YOU’RE A HALF YARD AWAY! Why in the shit would you move the ball back 6 yards? That play would not have made sense with VY and it sure as hell didn’t with Booger. I imagine they were trying to surprise OU thinking they would not run the same exact play as they had 2 of the last 3 snaps, but holy hell. If you are going for the element of surprise, at least run that double reverse Maclin pass that you saved for a 2 point conversion. Oh by the way, I haven't even mentioned that they didn't even try and beat the extremely average OU secondary deep. Just so you know, Baylor did this and scored 21 on them in Norman. And one last thing, who forgot to feed Chase his Ritalin before the game? Might have been a good idea.

And in other news, Rich Rodriguez made this same Gary Pinkel look like Bill Belichick. I didn’t get to watch too much of the game, but I do know that Steve Slaton only ran the ball 9 times. And in case you had not heard, Pat White went out in the first half and did not return until the fourth quarter. Slaton has not been great lately, but how can you not feed him the ball with White out? Hell, even Noel Devine only ran 7 times. Someone told me this was a running team with extremely talented running backs. Getting upset is one thing. Getting out-coached by Wannstache is quite another. Bad, bad night in Morgantown.

It will be interesting to see how the shit stacks up after tonight. Here’s one man’s best guess. Needless to say, it doesn’t have much validity.

National Championship: Ohio State v. LSU – Riveting
Rose Bowl: USC (auto) v. Georgia – BY FAR the best game of these five. And if they take Illinois, they should be killed in the most merciless way possible.
Orange Bowl: Virginia Tech (auto) v. West Virginia – The ‘Neers need this one
Fiesta Bowl: Oklahoma (auto) v. Kansas – If tOSU and LSU can back in to the N.C., why can’t Kansas do the same here?
Sugar Bowl: Hawaii v. Arizona State – I’m pretty sure they played in some shitty bowl last year, seems like a time for a rematch. But I'm not convinced Hawaii is going to beat Washington if that game ever starts. So maybe Boston College - are you kidding?!'s time for a playoff.

We both need Hawaii to get their asses handed to them. Get them the hell outta here.

This BCS could suck if ASU gets an at-large, which is possible. They are terrible.

By the way, WVU is an automatic. Won the Big Least. Well, survived...didn't win.

As are LSU and tOSU. What I meant was that they are automatically tied in to that bowl. Poor word choice on my part.

Either ASU or Illinois is getting one, which is ridiculous.

Agreed. ASU will be the worst BCS team in history. Yes, worse than Pitt was a few years ago.

Hiphop- email me at I want to do a Blog Heisman thing, and I'll get you the info.
