But more than anything, I think USF simply decided that they had no reason to respect our running game so they decided to go athlete on athlete on the outside and told their line to pin their ears back and rush like hell. Unfortunately, it took us a quarter to adjust, which was much too long.

Defensively, I still don't know, except you can't under-estimate the effect that Uncle Mo has on a college football game, let alone one being played in that type of environment.Hiphopopotamushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12156277572814345163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2487667923513160891.post-5748688169678241152008-09-16T16:22:00.000-05:002008-09-16T16:22:00.000-05:00Thanks the awesome picture, Hiphop! I don't have much to offer by the way of football commentary, but I'm looking forward to Saturday when it's business time again!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2487667923513160891.post-52854880965612581702008-09-16T16:12:00.000-05:002008-09-16T16:12:00.000-05:00You aren't helping things much hiphop. In all fairness, I request an obligatory pic of Marissa Miller somehow show up at IBT.

What can we take from USF? How about something that Fine, McAnderson, McClinton and Seymour took with them when they left: recognition that you have to earn it every single play. I think it's possible that no matter what was said by coaches in the lockerroom at half, coming back on the field everybody (but Todd) thought this one was in the bag. This is especially true at the positions where we are young/inexperienced - DT, CB, WR, OT and RB.

Now they've been kicked in the teeth. This weekend (and the ISU game) will be a telling adventure whether or not the young guys are willing to earn it.annyonghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05954413252999639238noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2487667923513160891.post-84387612101588178992008-09-16T16:03:00.000-05:002008-09-16T16:03:00.000-05:00I like your predictions as usual Hippo, and I'm al...I like your predictions as usual Hippo, and I'm also a little, no wait, really hurt by the loss this past Friday. One thing I haven't heard about the USF game is how the third quarter reminded me of the '06 team. Lead big early only to lose all confidence and gain a big head and try try try to get back in the game. Although this team is by far more edgy than the '06 team, we need to finish games, something Mangino has learned the hard way. But nevertheless, I am hurt, will still be hurt until Sat at around 6 pm when I am sure we will look much better. On a side note, I was watching the Mark Mangino Show lastnight and he talked a awful lot about our defensive struggles and how sure he was they will be corrected. I hope so Hippo. Another intersting note was when Matt Grothe was interviews after the game, he mentioned how he thought our defense was tired and how the heat of Florida got to them early. I haven't heard anything concerning heat issues.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
